21-23 Decembre 2008 / Botswana Maun Okavanko

21.12.2008 Nous repartons direction Maun. Grâce a une autorisation spéciale de dernière minute octroyée généreusement par Sam, j'ai l'extrême privilège de conduire ! Ah je les sent bien ces trous plein de boue !! Notre jour de chance est-il arrivé ? Toutes les conditions sont réunies, sauf l'eau ! Le truc de la condensation, ça marche aussi pas mal en afrique ! Les trous ne s'était pas rebouché (tout de même !!) mais impossible de s'embourber ! (même si une fois, c'était à deux doigts ..... caramba encore raté !) En chemin, nous remorquons un touriste sud-africain en panne d'essence (pardon, de diesel). Ensuite c'est à notre tour d'expérimenter quelques problèmes mécaniques ! Nous nous sommes donc rendu directement à Maun chez Mac le garagiste. Au début on a cru que c'était l'embrayage, ensuite ..... bref nous ne saurons jamais ! Le hi-light du jour: un vol en Cessna sur l'Okavango !!!!!!!!! DINGUE !!!!!!Nous nous installons dans un camp proche de Maun et nous installons ! Savanna au bar avant les spaghettis pesto, merci wooli !
22.12.2008 Le programme: quelques courses ! il nous faut ..... de la laitue bien sur (je ne parlerai pas du pain ! dont nous avions besoin, et oui, 5 pains en 3 jours ........ ) ensuite nous allons chercher Thomas à l'aéroport international ! Le plan était bon, mais nous n'avions pas compter sur les problèmes mécaniques récalcitrants ...... Bonjour Thomas, puis-je te présenter Mac ? Cette fois la réparation n'a même pas tenu jusqu'au camp où nous avions passer la nuit ...... nous y sommes retourné, en première ! Notre loueur de voiture nous organise un nouveau véhicule qui arrivera demain matin ! Prenons notre mal en patience, Thomas, tu connais le bar du camp ?
23.12.2008 La voiture est là à 7 heure, le chauffeur a conduit toute la nuit, il arrive de Windhoek ! Nous lui offrons tout de même un café, tandis que Speedy (le surnom de Sam, notre guide) le speede un max ! Nous partons avec le nouveau Def..... cette fois Moremi North Gate, nous voici ! Respectivement nous allons tirer jusqu'à Sevuti ! La route entre north gate et Sevuti est ..... humide !!!!! Mais Speedy ne s'y embourbe même pas !!! dommage !

21.12.2008 We are driving back to Maun. We ? No ! Thanks to a special permission given by Sam, I'm driving ! All conditions are there to get stuck in the mud, all ? unfortunately no ! Evaporation, this is the key word, the holes on the road were still there, with water, but not enough to get stuck ! (even if once I almost get that far .... the front wheels were not steering anything anymore ..... but the back wheels still did .... Caramba, missed again !) On the way we are towing a south african tourist who ran out of diesel. Then it's our turn to have some mechanical issues, so we are going straight to Mac, the mecanic ! First we thought that it was the clutch and then ...... well we will never know ! The high-light of the day ? A scenic flight in a Cessna over the Okavango Delta !!!!!!!!! AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We are staying for tonight in a camp next to Maun, having a Savanna before the spaghettis pesto, thank you wooli !
22.12.2008 Today's programm: some shopping (we need lettuce .... and break, of course !!! 5 breads in 3 days ..) then we will fetch Thomas at the airport. The plan just didn't forseen the mechanical issues re-coming up ! Hi Thomas, nice flight ? Do you know Mac ? But this time it didn't even make it until the camp we were staying last night ! so we went back there, in 1 gear ! Our car rental organises us a new car which will only be there tomorrow morning ! Let's wait, Thomas, do you know the camp's bar ?
23.12.2008 Our new car arrived at 7 am, with a tired driver, who drove all night from Windhoek ! We are offering him a cup of coffee while Speedy (our guide's nickname) is busy stressing him ! We are leaving at 8am with the new Def...., this time we are going to make it to Moremi North Gate, respectively to Sevuti ! The road between North Gate and Sevuti is ..... wet, but Speedy didn't even manage to get stuck ..... that is no fun !

Décidément, depuis le ciel comme depuis la terre ferme cette région est extraordinaire !
